Static pressure bypass dampers use the pressure difference within the heating and cooling duct system along with a weighted arm to determine the percentage to open or close. The galvanized damper is crimped on one end and uncrimped on the other allowing it to be used on metal pipe or flexible round ductwork. Sizing of the bypass damper is critical. The damper should be sized to carry the balance of the air flow if the smallest zone is the only zone calling.
